Camera guard big iol day one4/28/2023 ![]() Just two days earlier, the countries' top military officers had faced off over Taiwan during a virtual meeting. On China, Mr Blinken said he and Mr Wang had discussed a range of contentious issues from tariffs and trade and human rights to Taiwan and disputes in the South China Sea that have all been complicated by the Chinese position on Ukraine. “It was very important that he heard loudly and clearly from around the world condemnation of Russia’s aggression," Mr Blinken said, adding: "We see no signs whatsoever that Russia at his point is prepared to engage in diplomacy." He noted that Mr Lavrov had left the meeting early, possibly because he didn't like what he was hearing from his counterparts. "There was a strong consensus and Russia was left isolated,” Mr Blinken said of individual condemnations of Russia's actions from various ministers, some of whom shunned conversations with Russia's foreign minister Sergei Lavrov. ![]() However, the ministers were unable to come to a unified G20 call for an end to the conflict. Speaking to reporters, Mr Blinken said he believed Russia had come away from the G20 meeting isolated and alone as most participants expressed opposition to the Ukraine war. Here is a bit more from US Secretary of State Antony Blinken who has been speaking with China's foreign minister Wang Yi during a trip to Bali. He said replacements will be chosen soon. He addressed his dismissal of Ukrainian ambassadors to the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Norway and India, describing this as a "rotation" and "a normal part of diplomatic practice". "I thanked the representatives of the construction companies for their work, discussed with them the key tasks for the near future – it concerns both the reconstruction of our country and the additional strengthening of our logistics." And in the conditions of the full-scale war, strong infrastructure is one of the key elements of defence. "The question of building a high-quality transport network is always also a question of safety. Mr Zelenskyy also said: "I held a meeting today with representatives of construction companies – with those on whom the quality of Ukrainian infrastructure – our supply routes – depends. He thanked the US for committing to another aid package, this one worth $400m, saying: "Additional HIMARS launchers units and other high-precision weapons allow us to take precisely anti-terrorist steps and reduce Russian attack capabilities." He also said that fighting is continuing in the Donbas region, adding: "You can really stop such terrorist actions only with modern high-precision and potent weapons". In it, he talks about Russian attacks on the cities of Mykolaiv and Kharkiv, Kryvy Rih, and the communities of Zaporizhzhia region, where he says residential sectors were targeted. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has delivered his nightly address.
